Essex Ecto-1
The Creation
The Ecto-1 project is more than a car build; it is a meticulous preservation of cinematic history. Our journey began with a rare 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance, the exact specimen used in the 1984 masterpiece. Every weld, bolt, and chrome detail is being treated with the reverence it deserves.
Restoring a ghost-hunting legend requires a blend of traditional coachbuilding and high-tech fabrication. From the signature scientific roof rack to the proton pack storage bays, each component is engineered for authenticity. Our goal is to bridge the gap between silver-screen fantasy and automotive reality.
As we navigate the complexities of this industrial-scale restoration, we invite you into the workshop. Witness the transformation of steel and nostalgic memories into the most iconic 'Ecto' build ever attempted.

This project is going to take time to get perfect. We will post updates on this site, to keep you all updated, but if you want to follow the process in more detail, we have also started a blog. Come and join us!
